Show HN: Dewey: a connectome-driven fruit fly for your macOS menu bar (github.com)

I have connected the a reduced circuit from the Janelia FlyEM male CNS connectome (v1.0) to a 3D model of a fruit fly and now have a fruit fly living in my macOS menu bar.

Next to continuing the long lineage of desktop creatures (the 90s Dancing Baby!) it raises a few questions: with Dewey driven by a 'real' connectome is it OK to bring this thing alive in a virtual environment? Is it purely reflexive? What about a bee, a social animal?

To be on the safe side: Dewey can get some company on your desktop by adding a few friends.
