When the whole "why yuo still make debt go up?" kerfuffle happened after "DOGE", I could almost squint and see a legitimate political philosophy and a propaganda-addled political noob who just didn't understand what the Republican party has been practicing (vs preaching) for decades.
But still plowing support into a movement that openly hates this country? About the only good faith narrative/ideology I can come up with is that he's angling for anarcho-capitalism with the US Government falling by the wayside. Except with bedfellows of religious fundamentalists and foreign malevolent actors also angling for the downfall of the US for their own different motives, it should be glaringly apparent that it's not going to be some peaceful transition to an idyllic world of less government. Rather it's just going to be an utter collapse with other power structures filling the vacuum.
I guess the distinction doesn't matter if you're wealthy enough that the conditions of most people's everyday lives don't affect you? And he's sufficiently invested in China (ie the next hegemon after the Republican project runs its course) that he figures he'll have a place in that order as well?
Such oligarchs will be receiving some harsh and unforgettable lessons after the final collapse of the Western system, assuming Chinese dominance post collapse. I don't think the PRC will see those "investments" as courting promise of . . much of anything, actually. Except possibly to mark you as a troublemaker.
Even without considering PRC in the picture, in a hands-on-throat and teeth-in-veins North American breakdown, the Maddened Godspeakers will overwhelm the Bioshock Cosplay. They have the numbers - virtually everyone outside of a CONUS urban center - and they're much, much, much more energetic when it comes to their finely-tuned plans for the world.
China has recently gone thru a spat of executing a slew of billionaires that got too independent minded, and privatized all golf courses in the country. They are speaking loudly to one man, and he can't even understand what is being screamed.
Good reason for Americans to put some intellectual prowess behind fixing the mess and spinning up a new virtuous cycle.
He knows how corrupt the whole party is. He needs to keep them in power so he can keep getting what he wants. Even if it weren't corruption, he knows how to manipulate them at this point to play to their side of, "If it hurts Americans or hurts Democrats, then let's do it."
