I watched a talk today where what we call democracy would not so by the Greek philosophers, who would call what we have Aristocracies, because they defined democracy in the direct sense rather than the celebration of annual voting for representatives.
At the core is rule by the will of the people, which we seem to be rather far from at the moment
I'm sorry to the poster, but no sensible discussion will be had on this topic. We can all see what this is, but a lot of (especially powerful) countries have an interest in keeping the waters murky, and will do their best to steer the narrative one way or the other for their personal benefit or destabilisation of another.
NAZA's subtitle doesn't overpromise. It is very much worth watching, especially for tech people. Some of the interviews get into the details of unit 8200's tech, e.g. they mention some feature inputs that their Hamas-not-Hamas classifier is based on.
Most of the facts aren't new, for example Haaretz was reporting as it was happening on the escalating amount of civilian casualties considered acceptable in a strike on a random Hamas recruit. I even remember doing the same calculation as one interviewee (~100k Hamas members * ~20 NAZA = the entire population of Gaza) at the time, and being similarly disturbed. But it's something else still to get the inside view, including the participants' motivations.

Even Russia and China have "elections". I don't think anyone would confuse them with a democracy just because they have electios
Iran kills anyone who wisper against dictator, no hcknews.
