It's the situation I immediately thought of. I remember reading back several months ago that OpenAI was stealing from Apple. I suppose apple is returning the favor.
Title as submitted is backwards. From the article:
"Apple claims that OpenAI and two former Apple employees, including OpenAI’s now chief hardware officer Tang Tan, stole trade secrets including confidential product designs and proprietary information about its manufacturing processes."
> It was contemplating its own legal action shortly before Apple blindsided it with the trade secrets lawsuit.
Bizarre reporting. Reads like they're relaying an OpenAI PR agent's email verbatim without saying that they are. These two facts have no relation whatsoever - being sued does not preclude one from suing, and yet this is being reported straight and with some charged language. If you, I don't know, sucker punch someone in the face, are the police blindsiding you when they arrest you? If you're going to use this language, wouldn't it be more directionally correct to say that OpenAI blindsided Apple by stealing trade secrets? I don't think anybody can accuse me of being particularly fond of Apple (see username) but this is just weird.
This is messy.. but Apple looks worse off here. They are running scared because Jony designed next-gen AI devices is going to blow up the iPhone business.

Now OpenAI is saying that an ex-Apple employee sent Apple information about the device.
Tit and tat.
party a did 10,000 things to party b
what about party b did 1 thing to party a
then try to argue that both parties did equivalent things.
