Surely a loss of face because of failure is worse than not trying at all.

Most of the time its better to let your opponent guess than show you are useless.

When the UK is immpotent, the Saudis will be in an even worse position, because they will most definitely be practically defenseless. Today the Houthis are not sure and might be hesitant.
