Ask HN: Are there any programming positions that are safe from AI?

I have heard lots of discussion lately about people who are interested in programming and not at all interested in prompt engineering or managing AI agents. What career options are available for those people? Or in other words, what programming related positions exist that involve minimal use of AI agents and are expected to stay that way (if any)?

You have to be someone with good taste. But if you have good taste, you don't need a paid job.
I'm not sure I follow, could you explain further? I can't feed myself with my exquisite taste, can I?
You're looking for an answer but the truth is no one really knows because we don't know how good the models will get.
We are all AI pilots, do not complain nor look back, just focus. Distrubution is the moat, rather you create one or mine the idea that will become no brainer to an existing one.
Nobody knows what the world will look like in 6-12 months, but for now demand for three technical positions has risen (1) Forward-deployed engineer = you are a technical consultant solving business process problems with AI for enterprise clients, (2) cyber security expert = you defend companies against the massive wave of AI-facilitated attacks, (3) GTM engineer = A data-driven, self-improving AI-backed marketing/sales/growth system.
There aren't many professional careers left, however you can always program your own website/app without using AI, and make money through that.
