Im trying to recall the exact issue but I specifically looked for commentary on some pattern on stack overflow recently. I dont recall what it was.
I felt like AI was not giving me a good answer and wanted to see actualy discussion aroudn it. Github is the place to go for issues/errors but a but not higher level, borderline philosophical stuff that's not attached to some specific software.
edit: Aha, I see now. I was debating setting configuration from a file at deploy vs at runtime. For some software I was writing that would be shared via "deploy with cloudflare" button (which forks the gh repo and runs against your own cf project).
It's becoming very unnecessary for me, either DuckDuckGo's search assist will extract the answer for me or even more likel, I'll be asking for code directly in Duck.ai and then I'm extremely unlikely to need to click through for anything programming-related.
But also it's a function of what I'm working on, there is stuff I just skate through without needing to look anything up.
I’ve found posts where someone has asked a question about the exact issue I was having, but where some self-important mod who knows nothing about the subject had inevitably squashed it and pointed to a completely irrelevant thread about an entirely different problem.
I look regularly, but all I see is tumbleweeds. Questions about Valgrind (my main interest) have shriveled from a few every week to about 1 every 3 months.
Sometimes I troll meta where the mods and “curators” (as they call themselves) hang out. The staff mods have finally twigged that indiscriminate close voting is a bad thing. A typical example of that would be an ego tripping “curator” that works on Windows with HTML and CSS voting to close a question about Linux OpenZFS library interfaces because the question is “not about programming”. I somehow fail to see how CSS experience qualifies a person to judge questions about ZFS.
