Show HN: Quarter – A TUI launcher to browse, search and launch your games (github.com)

Quarter sits on top of the launcher client you already have. It grabs your library and hands every action back to the launcher, there's no login or password, no API key or data collection. Your client does everything else.

Quarter is just a fast shortcut to play your favorite games from the terminal you live in every day. That was my main mission when I created Quarter; just insert quarter, pick a game, press Enter.

Written in Go with Bubble Tea, reads Steam's own files on disk; game logos are drawn as pictures in the terminal using Sixel (terminals that don't support it will have a text fallback).

Steam today; Epic, GOG, EA and more launchers next.

Tested on Windows 11 with Windows Terminal. Did automated checks on Linux and Mac; but no tests as a real human with Steam installed, I appreciate the feedback a lot.

What launcher would you like next?

Nice project! I'm curious about the screen records in the README: how were they generated?
Hello panglesd, glad you like it, enjoy.

The video was made by me. With real recordings, capturing the screen running Quarter in Windows Terminal at 4K, so the zoom looks nice when downscaled to 1080p. Then edited with HyperFrames where videos are written as HTML, then rendered to MP4. Claude Code wrote the brief following my prompt.

Happy to go into more detail, email in my profile.
