The people (techies specifically) who understand how Facebook's twitter-like update widget works tend to appreciate it more, I believe. The new feed is more predictable since it defines exactly what it does.
Before, you'd see a varying portion of all updates from your friends; now, you see everything (as I understand it).
Before, you could say "Show me less from this person". Now, you can say "Block this person's updates from my feed." That's a great addition. I no longer have to endure uninteresting posts from people I haven't ever really known but happen to be friends on Facebook.
