Ask HN: What cool little shell tricks do you like...?

Idle question really, I was just navigating to another folder in Rails by doing:

    cd ${PWD/controllers/views}

Which I think is quite neat.

... and so I wondered what awesome things I could learn from the people of HN, tell me your shell tricks (zsh #1, bash etc #2)
