Show HN: An application to stop the barking of dogs with separation anxiety

6 points by mkel ↗ HN
I created a software application that helps dogs with separation anxiety. The application creates audio log of dog's barking, so the user can find out exactly how much and when the dog has been barking. It allows to easily record sound clips that will be played back to the dog whenever barking is detected. The dog will recognize his owner's voice and calm down.

The program has been in beta testing for over two years. It works surprisingly well and the feedback we have received has been very positive. We released a public version a few months back and it can be downloaded from http://www.digitaldogsitter.com.

Please, tell me what you think. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the idea in general, the software itself, business model, or the web site.

I can vouch for this. It's well designed, and had immediate effect on our dog.

Is the trial period still one week? (You should put that information near the download button).

Yes, there is a free trial period of 7 days. Probably should state that more clearly on the web site.
I think a video would sell this product much better.

Thank you for creating a humane solution. I know of a couple that used a shock collar on their dog. It didn't stop him from barking. So they locked him into a room of their house when they went out - and when they came back the dog had shredded, chewed, gnawed, clawed everything in the room. I'm sending them this link!
Sounds like a very good idea. My dog didn't bark when he had SA - I'm pretty sure he only whined. You may want to incorporate something for whining noises too. Also, an option to run at certain intervals would probably be good too. This might possibly avert SA.
