Ask HN: US or EU based domain registrar?

I went through many threads already openly asking for recommendations for domain name registrars:

Although, one think that came to mind after reading those previous threads and since I am not, obviously, an expert on it is if there's any special reason to prefer an EU-based domain registrar over a US-based one.

I'm glad to here opinions on it.
