Ask HN: Have You Designed With Gimp?

Have any of you ever designed anything significant with GIMP before? I plan on designing my own android app see here https://github.com/RabbitofCaerbannog/SchoolOfGamification and doing my own graphics. So I need to know if anyone has done that with GIMP before in the event I have questions. Or if in all honesty it is possible.
