Ask HN: Suggestions on networking for work in SF/Bay Area
I have been reaching out to companies within SF and the Bay Area with the usual approaches and changing my marketing efforts to get myself in front of various decision makers within companies but I am interested in suggestions from other people on how they have approached this problem beyond the usual "send a resume to jobs@ and hope for the best." The difficulty with that last approach of course is that it may yield a half-dozen responses from 100+ resumes sent.
I am definitely not interested in working with a recruiter or executive headhunter or anybody of that stripe.
I have a four day window at the end of June in which I will be in SF and my goal is to take six pre-qualified meetings with funded start-ups over those four days and walk away with at least one closed sale, i.e. I have a job offer.
I am open to suggestions.
