Ask HN: Are television news stations no longer a reliable source of information?

In light of the recent verdict of the George Zimmerman case, and the witch hunt seemingly propogated by television news sources, is it unreasonable to believe that television news stations can not be trusted as an honest medium for which information, not pseudo-knowledge, to be presented?
