It's insane how much leverage you get with a modern web stack. I was approximately 1000% more productive using knockout, bootstrap, zeromq and websockets as I am using the in-house non-web platform I'm programming on data to day at the moment.
Unless I read the source link wrong it is the other way around - only initiating the connection happens through the certral server, but the audio/video is transferred peer-to-peer.
However that means it probably won't handle large amount of people connected to the same 'room'
