Poll: What enterpreneur stage are you in?

The usual choices, first time entrepreneur, repeat entrepreneur without success, repeat entrepreneur with a successful exit.

For the sake of argument, successful exit would be something where you cashed out for a million or its something that's still running and making you 100k/yr profit.

Haven't tried one yet. I'm going to be turning 26 soon, and have been toying with the idea of leaving my job and spending some time (say, a year or more) travelling around and doing things I feel like.

It seems like a startup is something you can always do, but free-willing, low-budget travel seems to be the realm of youngish people.

I am 28 and I just did that. If you are reading hacker news and can grok it, you have to be your own boss. I remember Jon Aizen from http://dapper.net doing that. Although he has been a serial entrepreneur.

Free-wheeling travel is the realm of younger people (well, at least those who don't have families or obligations that are hard to break, like mortgages and military duty).

I traveled a lot when I was in my 20s and lived overseas for more than eight years. A great experience for personal and work reasons, and one that I could not consider doing now that I have a family and a home.

Give yourself a year, by a cheap return flight to somewhere interesting with lots of opportunities for travel to other places (i.e, Bankgkok, Athens) and go ...

I don't know if I could call my work start-ups. I make web sites. Sometimes people like them and communities form. Start-up to me implies something more.
