You may have noticed, but this site isn't specifically about technology. It's anything that may interest people of this industry. This is something that should concern everyone.
I don't want to sound pedant, but as per the guidelines:
Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.
I would be very carefull in trusting anyone when hearing such claims. Maybe it's true but maybe it is just propaganda against Assad's regime.
Would he and his military really be so dumb to use chemical weapons when the inspectors are now officialy in the country?
I am not sure inspectors can do much here other than add information. The politics surrounding Syria are complicated and fraught with recent history (Iraq, Afghanistan and Arab spring) such that it is difficult to understand how this will play out. The UN is also a politically complicated organization and ultimately this will be a test of the Syria and Russia relationship. All the while people are dying from gas attacks. It is amazing to think that a government willing to use gas, if true, could sustain the popular support of its people (which is something Syria still has).
Some of the fighters on the anti-Syria side are like the Mujahideen, and arming them was probably a mistake in the 1980's. There's the people of Syria safety to consider, and our own.
Just curious, what are the protocols/guidelines of the UN in case chemical weapons are actually used by any country? What can the possible outcomes/sanctions be in case they are found guilty of this?
