Poll: How hyped are you for Google Wave?

I'm curious to see how it works. I rarely use facebook chat, if that is a data point.

i COULD build a startup around it. but it would take a great deal of time that i just can't spare right now.

i don't expect wave to hit shores for at least a year, if ever.

I wish you had an option for "Cautiously interested."

I've not yet carved out the block of time to watch the demo video, but from what I've gathered about it, I'm interested enough to learn more and maybe give it a try with a wave project. But I wouldn't call myself "hyped" for wave. I just want to have some practical experience so I can judge for myself its strengths and weaknesses.

I've been bothered for awhile about the disconnect between email and IM (and phone, but that's another matter). I went as far as looking at CRM systems (Salesforce.com, etc.) to see if any of them had any magical ways to slurp up history and associate it with a strong notion of person-ness. It either didn't exist or looked too complicated. This is what I saw in Wave -- a single point of reference to track relationships.

My current email and IM tools allow me to trivially keep legally sensitive information from getting intermingled with ordinary stuff in a way I'm not sure is possible with something like Wave so I'm not likely to use it any time soon or ever.

I don't really get why I would want to use Wave or what sort of thing I would have to be doing to want the functions it seems to provide. If I had to guess, I'd say the real market for this interface style would be things like interactive gaming chat platforms (e.g. xfire[1]), customer support applications (e.g. copilot[2]) or online education systems.

One of the great missed points of Google Wave is that because you only communicate with invited people (and bots) it is spam free.

This alone makes it worth rooting for!
