I'm always surprised how long it takes for someone to post this question :-) the notices tend to go out around 8-10pm est. Good luck everyone!
2 more hours to go! Fingers crossed

Good luck everyone!! :fingers crossed:
Is it correct to assume that teams are notified one way or the other?
Yap. Atleast that's what it says on YC site.
Yes, last batch I got a very nicely written email beginning with "We're sorry to say we couldn't accept your proposal for funding..." about this time.
Haha. They have not looked at my video, so I have a strong chance to see the same email soon.

It is a little bit annoying that they asked for so many things, but then knock you out with your first line.

On the other side, thanks to this application, I feel that I am more concise. It is all about staying positive and moving forward regardless what happen.

Good Luck everyone! (including me :)

The other way to look at the YC application is that it provides a good structure to write down why your business. Regardless of acceptance/rejection, the application is something you can use going forward as a discussion point for your story.

tweeted from pg, We'll send out invitations to YC interviews close to midnight Pacific, so please don't worry if you hear nothing before then.
Definitely the right way to view it.
Been hitting refresh on the inbox all day!

Curious about other people and their video views, we got about 7 hits on ours after the deadline from California (Youtube analytics wont go any deeper). I doubt they were all from YC as the link was sent to other alums who reviewed our app and it is possible on of them hit it up after the deadline.

Anyone else look at their stats?

Did not send the link to anyone else except YC. We got one view from US the next day (after the deadline). Being from India, we believe that should have been the YC team.
In our case, we had 1 view from California, but it lasted 22 seconds (our video was 1:37), so it doesn't look too good...

YC watch from a embedded player, so check the traffic source also to know how many from YC.
Are they embedded views or from the YT view page?

I'm not sure whether 7 views from YC is good or bad. If they were all from YC, I'd say that means they might be on the fence about inviting your team to interview. When they're sure either way there is little point in watching the video repeatedly, especially when they have another 50 to get through that day.

Good luck to everyone.

5 different views from embedded players in California.

Oct 24, 27, 29 and twice on the 31st. average view durations are odd though, 1:09 and 1:02 for the 24th and 27th; :23 and :22 for the others.

Lots of ways I could analyze this but I choose to view it as positive sign.

1 minute out of 2 for me. Meh just applied for fun anyways. I'm still staying in SF on my own with product revenue anyways. Location is all that matters to me.
I had three views from the embedded player, but they were all for about 55 seconds, when our video was about two minutes long... I don't know what this means, but I guess I'll find out soon!
To be fair, the application specifically asked the video to be 1 minute long...
Haha, that is true! So I have a random question: your account was created 700 some odd days ago, which seem like a long time for some one who is currently applying, but if you read hackernews just for the content, I am not sure why you would be on this thread... And I believe one of your older posts said you worked for google... so I guess my question is what is your motivation to be in this thread? Purely for curiosities sake...
I have been enjoying HackerNews before I even learnt much about YC. I am currently working for Google and I've worked for a YC company before, so I am pretty interested in this space. 700 days is slightly less than 2 years, it really is a very short amount of time in the grand scheme of things.

Also, most people create account on HN for the ability to comment on things, this is a fun site that's popular for way more than just YC related things.

Now I'm really interested in the correlation between video hits and interview invites.
I don't really think there is much to look into, and if there was a relationship it is probably spurious. You don't know the reasons why they are looking at any particular video, nor do you know if they are using auto-play (which might not show on stats).

Possibly you can see whether you make it past the alumni filter (http://www.quora.com/Y-Combinator/Do-all-YC-partners-read-ea...), but beyond that I am not sure.

Oh I suspect so. But sometimes it's nice to feed your own confirmation biases for a few hours.
Why not submit a unique link, the clicks on which you could track?
I didn't realize they were still working on it, saw no E-mail so I deleted the Video without looking at the stats. Oops!
Yes, we got 7 views spread over 5 days that were probably all from YC reviewers (embedded player). They watched an average of just over 1 minute of the video which was just under 2 minutes long. We were not invited to the interview.

There was some very cool discussion at the end of the video and I'm guessing none of them saw it. Elsewhere in this thread is the speculation that high views = application that was on the fence and I guess I take comfort in that.

Anyway, if we were to apply in the future I'd ensure we had a shorter video. On the other hand, we were highly unusual candidates so it's possible we were just a bad match.

Good luck to everyone. Remember regardless of what the response is, YC is only a nitro boost.

Everybody is racing to create the future and don't slow down just because you didn't get into YC.

Good luck everyone! Either way- our team will be celebrating or drinking our sorrows away tonight at Rye Bar in San Francisco (http://www.ryesf.com/). Feel free to stop by...would love to connect either way! Feel free to reach out nirav(at)requext.com

Who knows maybe PG will be cool enough to show up and grab a few drinks too!

SFO is an airport; I thought you were going to a bar in the airport!
Sorry, I meant in the city. The bar is on Geary and Leavenworth.
My god, this waiting is killing us :D

In our case (loovin.com), we've got 7 views to the demo site and 4 views in the video (this are views we know that are from them only, yeah... we check this all day long :)).

Good luck everyone!

I just heard notices will be sent out 'late this evening'. And I'm assuming that's late this evening, PST. Also we got 4 views. 1 was me, 3 had to be from YC.
Curious if you heard this from a first party source?
My video was watched 6 times the day after the deadline. But I sent the link to 2 friends so I am guessing 4 views came from YC. I am going crazy waiting though....
5 views from the embeddable YT player for us.
does anyone get questions from YC during the time?
My 4 yr old has access to my phone and hopefully it was not him who watched me pitch 5 times
Got that dreaded email. Rejected. Now back to work.
