Linux is a semi

windows is a car

templeos is a motorcycle

I cannot stand file permissions. They have no place in a common person operating system. The are need in a main frame or commercial server.

My operating system is an additional one for special purposes like the C64. At the time of the C64, it was for home. They had VAX computers at the time for business stuff. They did not attempt to make a C64 do business stuff. They did not use ASCII! Whooa!

Exactly. When my high school switched from Windows to Linux a number of years ago, I didn't have to change the way I taught office software, computer fluency, or programming, because I wanted to be "operating-system agnostic". I'm glad that students have different systems at home than at school; that gives us openings to talk about their distinctions and how they make a difference.

These days, some students are using Google Docs for their papers and other work. They don't care what OS they're using.
