Ask HN: Is there a company that makes dropshipping easy?

I've been looking around for a while and it still seems like an industry with many barriers to entry. You need to buy a directory for $300 just to find a list of dropshipping companies. I assume someone has found a way to make this easier - is their website just hard to find?

1. Contact the manufacturer of a product you're interested in

2. Ask if they are willing to dropship their products

3. If not, ask for a list of distributors

4. Contact distributors

5. Ask if they are willing to dropship

There are definitely opportunities in this space. Whatever you choose to make, it will need to integrate with the biggest ecommerce platforms (magento, volusion, shopify, an probably even wordpress).

It's been a while since I looked into this, but there is a lot of friction in ecommerce. Any solution that can smooth out the process of dropshipping, fulfillment, billing, chargebacks, returns, etc. will be well received.

It definitely entails a lot of work which is why I haven't investigated it much. But there are opportunities for sure.
