GoCardless (YC S11) is looking for software developers in London

GoCardless is a London-based startup simplifying Direct Debit for businesses across the UK, and soon Europe. Our team is small and technology-focused. We are growing fast and backed by some of the world's best investors, including Y Combinator, Accel Partners and Passion Capital.

We value people who are experts in their field, care deeply about building great products, and get things done.

We are looking for a full-stack software developer to join our team to help us build our next wave of products. Our product is primarily built in Ruby and JavaScript, using frameworks like Ruby on Rails and Angular. We strongly believe in test-driven development, and deploy code on a daily basis.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to different areas of our code base, and build open source frameworks like Hutch, or Statesman along the way.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be:

- Building out internal services to communicate with international banking systems.

- Working on systems to intelligently identity-check and risk-assess new customers and merchants. As we grow, this is likely to include a significant machine learning element.

- Helping us to scale our services to serve our fast growing merchant base.

You should apply if you:

- Are proficient in at least one dynamically-typed, object-oriented language (e.g. Ruby, Python), and have significant experience with a modern web framework, such as Rails or Django.

- Have an awareness of the full web stack. You live and breathe HTTP, feel comfortable optimising SQL queries, and have at least a basic understanding of JavaScript.

- Demand that code be well-tested, and believe that tests are a helpful tool in driving design, not merely a tedious afterthought.

You'd be a particularly good fit if you:

- Have built and scaled web services to perform while serving hundreds of thousands of users.

- Are excited by the world of technology startups. You're a self-starter looking for responsibility and a place you can make an impact.

- Feel comfortable in the UNIX world: you grep, sed, and awk your way through text files, and have experienced the joy of writing SysVinit scripts.

- Are familiar with any of the following: Redis, RabbitMQ, ElasticSearch, Chef.

We have roles for experienced & more junior developers - the salary is extremely competitive and will depend on experience & ability. Stock options will form part of the compensation package.
