Can you build a front end application for millions of non-technical users?

The remodeling/construction industry is one of the largest sectors of the US economy: it provides the framework for our physical lives, influencing where we live, work and sleep. Despite its ubiquity, it remains an abstract concept for many people.

BuildZoom is changing how people engage with the remodeling/construction industry. We already have half-a-million monthly users and are growing.

We're looking for a unique front end developer who has the vision and talent to build the interface that will impact millions of people.

Examples of the challenges you will face: helping non-technical users make sense of a vast repository of industry-specific market data we've gathered; turning our gallery of 300k remodeling photos (submitted by users) into a living, breathing conversation; developing a workflow application to support large financial transactions.

The ideal candidate will put the user's needs first, prioritizing performance, cross-platform functionality and simplicity over aesthetics or personal interest. They will have the ability to balance right- and left-brain functioning, seamlessly traversing ux, design and engineering. Most importantly, they will be a natural collaborator and communicator.

Specific requirements include: CSS3/HTML5 (with boostrap); JavaScript; Ruby on Rails; 2+ years experience

To apply, e-mail jobs@buildzoom.com with (1) A description of your background and interests; (2) Links to applications you've built in production and an explanation of your specific contribution; (3) A sample of production-quality code you've written; (4) Link to your relevant profile (e.g. Github)
