Delivery to your doorstep, a logistics solution

This post https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7143399 got me thinking, how about we have a network of pipes with conveyor belts to each home, running underground, or maybe dedicated lanes alongside the existing network of roads.

We could order whatever groceries, gadgets, take-out, whatever we want, it would be automatically moved from shelf and an address would be attached to it. These packets would go zipping down the street and to your doorstep where they'll automatically download at a designated area of your home. I know, a big infrastructure challenge, but so were roads, and so is hyperloop.
