Philip Seymour Hoffman, Actor, Dies at 46 (nytimes.com)

Wa, this comes totally unexpected I have to say. He was a good actor, not one of my favourite but one that I could always recognize and had roles I usually liked. Can't say much more unfortunately. Condolences to family and friends.

We've had some terrible news. Mr. Lebowski is in seclusion in the West Wing.

Imo a really top quality actor. There aren't many actors who I can think of who are truly at a similar level. His performances were almost always superbly executed. He didn't over-act like many A-Listers are prone to do; he was good in very subtle ways at his art.

I'm very saddened.

I feel a little sullied that the reporter published this before the family knew. I'd rather wait to hear.
