I 100% agree San Francisco needs to build more high-rises for the enclaves of south-bay workers who now live here. Let them have all of SOMA in fact, it shuts down after 7 PM and remains dead on the weekend anyway. They won't even be here to enjoy it during the day so they won't notice. Let them have the boring national corporate owned franchises that overcharge for generic boxes. At least they all come with gyms and some even have pools.

Save the other communities though, let them flourish for the people who actually want to spend their days in the city.

So for the love of god, please LET them build these high-rises!

k-thanks, bye.

This will not end well. New York has managed to cope with Wall Street money, because of excellent early 20th century infrastructure that lets people move outward. You can buy relatively affordable housing within a 45 minute train ride of Manhattan, thanks to the half a dozen commuter train lines converging on it not to mention the extensive subway network. San Francisco on the other hand is totally fucked. If the urban planners had any sense, they'd get together with San Mateo county and build train lines down the peninsula to allow people to live and commute in from the near suburbs. One little Caltrain line without express tracks isn't going to cut it if San Francisco is to evolve into a real global city.
