SoundFocus (YC S13) is hiring a mobile / front-end engineer (employee #3)

We're looking for an experienced front-end engineer to take ownership of our entire user-facing software stack, from our Android & iOS applications to our online store. Our ideal candidate is passionate about developing beautiful user interfaces, and has an eye for design and detail. At SoundFocus you'll get a chance to develop a product that will have a positive impact on the lives of millions who face hearing-related challenges.

As the second software engineer, you'll take ownership of a significant part of our software stack, and will work alongside our diverse team, whose backgrounds include Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, UX Design and Back-End Development. Our code-base spans the entire stack, from C and Assembly to JavaScript and Ruby, and you should be comfortable jumping in and learning new skills as necessary.

Responsibilities:

- Build user-facing mobile apps for our hardware device.

- Rapidly iterate on new designs by working closely with our designers.

- Ideate & develop features for the SoundFocus iOS, Android and Web applications, and develop our online store.

- Write well-documented, efficient and well-tested code across multiple platforms.

- Develop test automation and implement testing frameworks as needed to shorten development cycles.

What We're Looking For:

- A BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

- 2+ years of front-end engineering experience on iOS or Android.

- Experience with code management and release tools (Source Control, CI, Automation).

- Proficiency with at least two of the following languages (Objective-C, Java, JavaScript).

- A strong passion for music/audio.

Nice To Have's:

- 5+ Years of combined experience front end development (iOS, Android, Web).

- Prior experience developing on a web stack at scale (MVC, DB Management, PaaS DevOps). - Prior experience writing DSP algorithms, audio applications or with music production.

- Prior experience maintaining an e-commerce site.
