Why are MakerFaire tickets so costly?

Its now at $60 for a 2 day Adult entry pass. I think that's ridiculous. Their early-bird price was $50 which is still too high. I think these high prices seem predatory to me. Maybe its time to make some changes to how the event is conducted and controlled.
