How do I get started with full stack JavaScript?

I'm a Django web developer but am looking to switch to full-stack javascript. However, there are so many tools and libraries that people deem standard when it comes to javascript development that the learning curve is looking quite steep. Choosing between all the MVC frameworks, build tools, package managers, etc is a bit overwhelming. Any advice on how to get started as painlessly as possible?
