Fasthosts blocking Wordpress login pages to mitigate attack.

Fasthosts are blocking access to any Wordpress login page across a whole server. I assume I'm not misinformed in thinking this is the most inelegant solution to brute force attack?

Returning a 503 error message also seems incorrect?
