42 (YC W14) is hiring hacker #0
We're building the best point-of-sale analytics software for retail.
Our customers are not mathematicians, scientists or engineers; They run their business using intuition and excel. We can do better. In the past few months, we've built a product that provides more value than the multi-million dollar consulting packages offered by our competitors. We're going beyond just simple reporting, and we'd love to tell you more about this in person.
What we have:
- Large, raw datasets from big-name retailers. You can't get these anywhere.
- Our own JSON-based query DSL (think mongodb/elastic search), that allows for ad-hoc queries from our client.
- Microservice architecture.
- Pretty sick client-side angular dashboard.
- Node-based ETL pipeline.
We're looking for an experienced hacker that will play a pivotal role in the success of 42.
- Proficient in at least two of these: JS / CoffeeScript, Python, R, Java, C++, Scala, Julia, Go, Haskell, Ocaml, or whatever!
- Familiar with modern frontend stacks (we use AngularJS heavily)
- Passion for data and visualizations, graphics experience a plus (we use d3).
- Basic knowledge of statistics
- SQL/noSQL database experience (we're currently using Postgres)
- (bonus) Experience dealing with obscene amounts of data
- (bonus) Experience with ETL or data processing system design
- (bonus) Distributed systems architectures
- (bonus) Data mining and machine learning experience
- (bonus) Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Storm, etc..
- (bonus) Devops, Docker. We use Gentoo in prod.
- (bonus) Early stage startup experience, experience with hiring, etc.
We're an angel-backed, early-stage startup, so we'll hook you up:
- All the gear
- Full benefits package
- Equity & options as early employee
- We're based in SF, and we'll help you relocate if need be.
If that sounds good, send me an email: nick+careers@42debut.com
We're also looking for dev interns, so feel free to apply!
