What's your opinion on the future of Scala?

I was learning scala a few months ago and then I came across Paul Phillip's "We're doing it all wrong" talk. I couldn't figure out with total certainty whether it meant the unavoidable doom of Scala or not, but I became discouraged and stopped learning. I ask now because after some months the dust must have been settle and I'm sure a lot of people smarter than me must have figure out the answer. So, that's my question, is Scala going the way of the Dodo, were Paul claims well founded, have they been addressed? I'd be happy to pick up Scala again as long it has a bright future ahead.
