Ask HN: Make HN website purely functional?

The HN frontpage is mutable. Why not have the base url forward to the current state so that you can go back to old states? So root (/) would redirect to some url signifying current state. If one would choose a sequence for the state it could just be a number, say "/2345342" or so. This way my mobile browser could refresh without me losing track of articles and the state urls would be sharable.
