Dell installs physical Keyloggers on their laptops

So during a discussion with a good friend of mine who at one point worked for Dell, I was surprised to discover that Dell has physical Key loggers installed on (hypothetically) all of their laptops!

I did not believe him at first, however he disassembled his laptop to prove it to me. Low and behold, in between the keyboard connection and the rest of the motherboard there was a miscellaneous chip. Upon further examination we uncovered a name on the chip and found it had connection to a government run company.

I am not sure if this is true for all Dell laptops, but it's likely.
