Ask HN: Can someone give me advice on website designs please?

I am trying to decide a couple things. First and foremost, is the front page too vague? Will users not know what the site does or is it pretty obvious? There is a "How It Works" tab but I want the front page/form to be obvious enough. And secondly, which web design is better? They are both similar but there are some minor differences.
