Taking the whole "tell as many people as you can about your goal so you can't back out" idea and turning it into an app seemed inevitable, but this seems to ask early adopters to take quite a large leap of faith by publicly displaying all their different "life scores" for everyone they know to see. Curious as to if there's any plan to overcome this obstacle by manually shaping the culture the app builds.
Thanks for the comment. Actually, we don't believe (nor does behavioral research confirm) the efficacy of, as you say, "tell as many people" as you can about your goal. Instead, we allow you to control exactly who you share a goal with (if anyone). For example, I share some of my goals with my wife but share other, more appropriate goals with my friends. We think this fine grained control is necessary when it comes to something as private as your goals.
As for sharing your Life Score, I agree that some people might find that uncomfortable. This is completely optional.
So, in a nutshell, we believe privacy is really important when it comes to these matters and have built as much control as possible into the app. With that said, we're definitely still learning about people's needs though!
Would love for you to try it out and let me know what you think! Feel free to email me at kevin@cheerist.com
