Ask HN: Startups – Will you hire a generalist or specialist?

For a two-month old "tech" startup is it advisable to hire a great non techie generalist who did little bit of Sales/BizDev/VC investing/Hiring? I've been told after all startup is a business and you need to think of it as a business than a product and hire best talent whenever they are available. Wanted to hear your thoughts? Have you ever come across such a situation?
