Ask HN: How is Karma calculated?

I thought it was an average of points on comments divided by the number of comments (excluding most highly-rated or worst-rated comments). But I have 2 accounts and one of them suddenly got an average of 1.05 or something very small, while another accounts with less points per comment has a higher average.
