Where are the african & hispanic americans? Females? Do these groups of people not innovate & or get into the innovation investment world in Silicon Valley?
If I were starting my own small company, my first hires would be people from my personal network that I've worked with before and trust/like.
And it's completely conceivable that your personal network could be limited to white males without you being racist (especially if you are ~50 now, and went to HS/College/Work back in the 70s/80s). As a few trivial examples, consider that you were sent to a private unisex secondary school which was mostly white. And then in college you joined a frat that was incidentally mostly white (like many are). And then you work for McKinsey/Goldman/etc as your first job for which, especially back then, was mostly white.
Through no fault of your, most of your connections happen to be white males. And I don't see anything wrong with that (FWIW, I'm not a white male, and I'm probably a minority in my own social group).
