Oh come on, you would really trust a site for which ads seem to come from NRA?
Also the debunk [1]: "There is an article circulating the internet that is filled with half-truths and misinformation. It is posted on a website called “Political Ears,” which is listed as a “satire website” here. Unfortunately, people are reading this article as fact."
This is link bait. Almost 80% of their total funding goes to research, education, and helping those who suffer from ALS and their families. The rest goes to fundraising and administrative costs.
As far as non-profits go, I hold the mark to be around 80% should go to the cause. Which I feel like the ALS foundation does. Just because it isn't all going to research, doesn't mean that it isn't helping people. It is hard to base a charity entirely around research because you usually can't have a visible everyday impact on people's lives. Education and helping the families help people understand how serious ALS is and encourages them to take action.

The graph FROM THE ARTICLE shows: Fundraising: 14% Administration: 7% Mission: 78% (Education, Patient Services, and Research)
The article then complains that only 27% is used for research. That's because it's not the only mission of the ALS foundation.
I hate thoughtless "journalism" like this that raises spurious complaints just to grab attention. Please don't encourage them.
