I was confused by the use of "torpedoing", which generally means to veto or prevent something happening.
In this case it seems to mean committee stuffing or similar.
Red Hat vetoing systemd in any context would be newsworthy, hence my clicking through. Someone accusing them of undermining Debian via supporting systemd is just the usual boring drivel.
This email reads like a tin-foil hat conspiracy theory. No evidence is provided for it, it's just a statement that some 'evil organisation' has forced an open organisation to do something the author didn't like.
I should note that the author has a bit of a tendency to see conspiracies of this nature[0] and has been banned from the LKML in the past[1].
I'm going to assume this is simply groundless mud-slinging until I see any evidence to the contrary.
RedHat is already forcing systemd by making it a ridiculous dependency in things like Gnome 3. Wouldn't surprise me if they went to this level, but I would want proper evidence.

It looked like tinfoil-hat material to me, but instead of just going with my gut reaction I actually tried to get some info. Here's the list of people on the Debian TC.
I couldn't find anything to indicate that any of those people are or have ever been Red Hat employees, or in any other way inclined to take marching orders from Red Hat management. Heck, as a Red Hat "associate" myself I can say that even our current employees don't always take such orders very well. The idea that someone with an even more tenuous relationship would participate in this kind of conspiracy seems laughable to me.
