Segment (YC S11) is hiring a designer
At Segment, we believe design is essential to making great products. We want to delight our users and push ourselves to create a product that people have never seen before. We want people to love our product. We want to inspire them with our design and have them share it with their friends.
Designers at Segment do not simply create a beautiful face for the product, we help to define its entire direction.
## What you'll be doing
You’ll be helping us solidify our brand as part of the core design team. You'll be working closely with all of the teams at Segment — product, marketing, sales, success, and operations - to help understand and solve their problems. Some weeks you'll be leading the design on a marketing project and other weeks you'll be designing a piece of UI for a new feature in the app.
Projects might include working on the marketing site, designing new templates and landing pages, designing new features for the core web app, or creating icons or illustrations, and developing the brand. Sometimes we even work in print.
## Why you should choose Segment
Segment is growing fast. We’re scaling our design team and you can help define our process and culture. Right now we’re small, with only one person working on design full-time, so this is a chance to help shape the design direction of the product and play a vital role in its future.
## Our ideal candidate will:
- Have 3+ years experience designing for the web or apps
- Have the ability to work in a team, bounce ideas around and take feedback constructively.
- Care about to tiny details and always put quality first.
- Have an understanding of the engineering challenges required to pull off designs and prototypes.
- Have a strong sense of typography.
- Have the ability to communicate their ideas and design process with the team.
## Bonus points for: - Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Nice, but not required.
- Illustration and icon skills.
- Experience with user-testing.
- Experience with print design.
