Ask HN: Is the subject matter of my GitHub projects (as résumé) important?
I’m debating applying for a job at a software company as a front-end developer, and like many companies out there, they are interested in seeing any work on GitHub.
The content in my GitHub account are things I’ve done in my spare time, things that are fun, much of which turns out to be computer game-related. Don’t get me wrong — it’s all front-end, web stuff, but I am curious, is it smart to have more dry/serious kind of content? Are companies/hiring managers quick-to-judge GitHub portfolios?
