Ask HN: Traveling to Berlin to check out the startup scene, any contacts?

I am currently based in Seattle but I think it's time for a change. I've loved Berlin since I was a little kid and as a bonus I can even understand German somewhat decently.

I only have a few weeks there from Christmas to a week after the new year, but I would love to get some contacts to get a feel for how things are like. If you work at a startup or you're hiring and would be interested in showing me around I'd be very grateful :)

Have a look at http://www.meetup.com there are a few Berlin startup groups that meet on a regular basis. Perhaps a good starting point would be to go to some of those events :-)

Thank you! I already found one nice looking event and RSVPed. It would just be nice to have a more personal contact as I'll be on my own in an unfamiliar country, and it's intimidating enough going to meetups here! :)

I'm a Rails developer, most comfortable with backend stuff, or frontend logic based stuff. More junior but I pick things up quickly.
