Ask HN: Do you know firms that use alternative forms of organizing work?

I am a PhD student, interested in innovative forms of organizing work. At the moment I am trying to get a more complete picture of what is "out there". (Of course I know of prominent examples like Valve, Basecamp, GitHub.) Do you know firms that primarily work as a "virtual organization", i.e. working with remote teams? Do you know firms that use non-hierarchical organising and decision making?
