Ask HN: Landing VC / Angel Funding in the South

I'm in Louisiana and I'm looking to get started on an idea of mine, and we don't even need that much funding to get started, yet I know it's going to be very difficult to find down here. Bootstrapping is not really an option, currently.

Are there any funding success stories from the deep south that anyone is willing to share?
