Founder of the app here. Ever since Yahoo Weather came out, it's displaced my default weather app. I really liked it's intuitive and easy to use interface. That's what I was trying to go for here. Hope you guys like it.
The app looks great! If you dont mind me asking, whats your dev stack.
It's 100% native - objective-c. No Swift yet since it's too new and I like to see examples of what's out there and existing codebase. It's mostly a UI for someone else's API so the backend is very lightweight. We use Parse and a caching server, but that's about it.
Great app. Whose API is it? Your top review says you cover more local theaters than fandango, which was my initial thought.
Currently scraping for now, but we're going to move away from that.
Looks beautiful. Which services are you pulling your data from?
Mostly TMDB but we also pull showtime data from another source. We're looking at augmenting our ratings data from other providers eg Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB
I didn't think RT's API was being maintained last I looked. I couldn't find any showtimes API. Are you scraping the data?
We're not pulling RT data yet so I haven't really looked.
can this finally be the app that let me surf trailers, click like and send me push notification when the movie is out ??

(or available on itunes or netflix)

You can surf trailers right now - there's a whole trailers section. Notifications are coming in the next version - with the use cases you mentioned (when the movie is out in theaters or available on itunes etc)
By any chance have you come across Trailers (Apple's own movie app) which does exactly what you describe with notifications for your favorite movies.

Of course I have :) I used to use a combination of Trailers, Flixster, IMDB, and Fandango for my movie needs. This is sort of an amalgamation of all that with my twist.
oh wow. with their trailer website lacking it, appletv wishlist feature as toothless, i really didn't think they'd bother with it in an app. thanks
@wushupork, the app looks beautiful!
Thanks - hopefully it's also simple and easy to use
Instant download once I realized wushupork made it. His apps are great!
Thanks for the vote of confidence Peter. I appreciate it!
Can you add a way to get a movie's nearby showtimes directly from its detail page? This is a common use case.

I usually use Flixster but this app looks much better.

Hi David, yes - that's a VERY common use case that is in our TODO list

Very cool app, looks good and love how you can get lost in it for hours... Did you design it?
Yes I did most of the design myself. A lot of thought went into "engagement loops" as I call them.
Just installed it. Love the UX! How do you plan on monetizing it ?
Monetizing? what's that? Currently nothing super innovative. affiliate and ads
