When I was younger I was very lucky to have a great dog. He was my best friend. He's been gone a long time, but I still admire him and try to be more like him.
He did everything with complete devotion. When he was tired, he slept. When it was time to eat, he ate. Wake him up in the middle of the night to go out into the freezing cold, nude, to run through the woods and kill an animal? No problem. He'd be ready in seconds, and would kill the possum or whatever unfortunate creature with awe-inspiring brutality. But he was also so smart that if he wanted to sleep in my bed, he'd sleep with his back to me so his toenails wouldn't scratch me.
I still have a lot to learn from dogs about how to live.

[ 3.4 ms ] story [ 17.0 ms ] thread1. Companionship, which will make you happier, less lonely, and less stressed out (assuming you like dogs!)
Reasons not to get a dog:
1. You can't spend at least $3,000/year on care.
2. You haven't researched how much of a commitment it will be.
3. You need an attack/guard dog.
4. You want your baby to be dirtier (see article).
