How to respond to a personal improvement plan?
- First, some background:
- Prior job was as a data scientist at a small tech company in their engineering team.
- I'm now a data analyst in the online marketing world working within a business team (i suck at communicating with others)
- I works on building statistical models
- I code in R and Python, and use SQL.
- My skills aren't necessarily valued by my employer
- Have been frustrate for a while and mentioned some things on - Twitter/LinkedIn
- Had a great performance review last year (3.65/4)
- I've actively been looking for new jobs over the past few weeks.
So I recently got a Personal Improvement Plan because of disparaging comments I made about co-workers and my employer. Furthermore, I was apparently too hostile in my assessment of the employer in some of my emails.
So I've been asked to sign a PIP and improve in a set of completely unrelated areas, or leave my job? What would you do?
I was allready frustrated with the job and likely to leave in the next two or three months, so what benefit would I get from signing it?
